GSEP is Hiring - Law Clerk


Goodell, Stratton, Edmonds & Palmer, LLP is accepting applications for a law clerk position in our downtown Topeka office. This position requires a highly motivated, organized professional who is interested in making an immediate and valued contribution. Among other areas of practice, the firm specializes in business and corporate law, health care and hospital law, and medical malpractice and personal liability defense.

The law clerk will be responsible for performing legal research, drafting pleadings and other legal documents, drafting contracts, assisting attorneys in drafting briefs and legal opinions, and assisting attorneys in the discovery process and preparing for depositions and trials, among other duties commonly performed by a law clerk. It is expected the law clerk will be exposed to most practice areas of the firm in both legal transactions and litigation. The ideal candidate will have advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to analyze legal issues.


  • Currently attending an accredited law school, 2L or 3L preferred.

  • GPA of 3.3 or greater preferred.

  • Excellent attention to detail and proofreading skills with the ability to multi-task.

  • Excellent research and writing skills as well as verbal communication skills.

  • Outstanding organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills.

  • Must be self-motivated and able to meet deadlines under pressure.

  • Must have ability to work as part of a team, as well as work independently as a professional.

  • Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Firm and client confidentiality required.

This is a part-time position requiring less than 28 hours per week with flexible schedule. Our firm will work with your class schedule to set consistent hours. This position has the potential to transition to a full-time Associate Attorney for qualified candidates and is great for an individual who wants to stay in the Topeka area.
