GSEP Welcomes Catherine Walberg


Goodell Stratton is pleased to announce that Catherine L. Walberg has joined the team at GSEP from her position at Kansas Medical Mutual Insurance Company.


Ms. Walberg has over 20 years of experience ranging from serving as Deputy Secretary/Litigator for the Department on Aging to being a key leader in the growth of healthcare and insurance start-ups to serving as counsel in a mature yet changing corporate insurance industry, Ms. Walberg has honed a unique specialty at the intersection of these arenas.


Ms. Walberg attended the University of Kansas where she earned both a Bachelor of Arts Degree in French Literature and her Juris Doctorate. During her undergraduate studies she also attended the Université de Franche-Comté in Besançon, France through an international exchange program. Ms. Walberg is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, the Topeka Bar Association, the Kansas Bar Association, the Missouri Bar Association, and the Kansas Association of Defense Counsel. Ms. Walberg has served on the American Bar Association’s HIPAA/HITECH Task Force & Security Rule Subcommittee; the Kansas Health Information Exchange’s Policy Committee; the PIAA Regulatory Committee1; the Chair of the Revised PIAA Model Audit Rule Subcommittee of Regulatory Affairs Committee, Chair of the PIAA Legal Section; and Chair of the Topeka Country Club.


Ms. Walberg’s expertise includes health care; business organization, strategy, and solutions; contracts; insurance; data privacy, security, and technology; and general employment law. She has worked directly with corporations and their leaders in building successful, efficient, and profitable teams and product lines. She has helped mature organizations pivot their go-to-market strategy to remain relevant and profitable.
